During Romparoo's opening weekend festivities, my daughter April attended a yoga class taught by the wonderful Ms. Devon!  Devon uses the Next Generation Yoga method to teach her kiddie yoga class.  This method combines traditional yoga ideals, creative elements and the playful nature of children into a fun and exciting class for kids!  Each kid's yoga class at Romparoo is full of yoga poses, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques that incorporate: visual imagery, learning points, sensory integration, creative movement and other fun stuff such as books, music, props & crafts

During the class, the kids did warm-up and stretching excercises while singing, dancing, and interacting with other kids through the art of yoga.  The children learned yoga's traditional poses and positions and at the end of the class, they also learned shavasana or what Devon calls - a "Do Nothing Pose!"

Romparoo yoga classes as well as her other classes incorporate a a theme for the day!  Some popular themes include - A Day at The Beach or Jungle Animals!  During April's class, Devon read a popular book by Bill Martin Jr/Eric Carle -  "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"  The kids loved it.

Another parent whose daughter attended the class says - "The class was incredible...these 6 little ones were kept enthralled in everything Devon sang, said or did.  Devon used sensory fun (water spray bottle), music, books and funny poems to have each child follow her into a traditional yoga pose.  In the words of my Julia (4 yrs old) I love yoga...I liked being a brown bear (downward dog) AWESOME!"

Romparoo offers yoga classes to 2-3 years - Family Yoga (done with a mommy, daddy, or caregiver!), 3-4 year olds - Kid's Yoga, and 5-7 year olds - Big Kid's Yoga.  They also offer Children's Yoga Birthday Parties!  Romparoo is conveniently located next door to the Nail Doctor if mommy wants to sneak away for a pedicure during the 45-minute Kid's Yoga or Big Kid's Yoga classes!

During the opening weekend, April and my son Owen, also attended Open Play gym which gave the kids a chance to explore on their own and interact with other kids/families.  Romparoo's soft gym is a colorful room with soft toys, a train, a ball pit, and other fun toys for the children.  The floor is made of soft interlocking squares in all the colors of the rainbow.
